IndiaSkills 2018, India’s biggest skill competition was held in New Delhi from 2nd to 6th October. This 5-day biennial competition is an initiative of National Skill Development Corporation.
This year, more than 400 competitors from 27 Indian states competed and showcased their talents in over 46 skill categories. Pencillati’s Art Director Mr. Amitabh juried in one such category, 3D Digital Game Art. “Every participant was given the task to create a character from Concept art to the final animated asset within the time provided” he described.
3D Digital Game Art is a wide field that can be further broken down into 2D concept art and 3D modeling, texture painting, rigging, and animating. An Artist must produce a 2D digital concept of the
required assets for the game using the provided design brief and using his technical and artistic skills, take it to engine-ready asset meeting the prescribed benchmark.
The skill may require a lot from the participants but it pays off well as the winners of the event will be provided sponsored training to prepare and represent India in 45th WorldSkills that is being held in Kazan, Russia next year.
